To help alleviate a chronic blood shortage, we devised a simple solution: add an existing emoji, accompanied by a plus or minus character, to your username on Twitter and Instagram. Despite having no budget, we achieved over 100 million impacts on social media, reaching 30,000 potential new blood donors – which is 10 times Santa Casa’s monthly demand.

Add an emoji to your profile’s name to become
a reachable blood donor instantly.

Major Brazilian celebrities started using emojis,
posting videos and messages about the idea.

Posters and flyers were distributed
in the hospital and on subway lines
around the hospital.

The cause has also gained a lot of visibility,
turning 'Hemoji' into a symbol for blood donation.
